A sneak peek into the eZee Premier League

Do you know what is the most loved sport in Asia? It is CRICKET.

It is the game that was originated in Europe, personified by Britishers and worshipped by the Asians and when it comes to eZeeites, the passion remains unaltered. Which is why, every year, this time, we organize eZee Premier League, popularly known as EPL.

It is an internal cricket tournament held every December, bringing together all of the enthusiastic eZeeites to play and make merry.

The eZee Premier League 2018-19

This year, it was no different. We had our first EPL match on 8th December. It was the day when all the gentlemen roared on the field and the ladies were on bleachers, cheering their favorite teams. There were total 8 teams that competed among themselves.

The batsmen battled, the bowlers armed against them and everybody put in their tooth and nail to win the game.

In the end, Master Batters won the game of grit and the game of hearts.

But this was not the end, because the women still had to show their speed and skills. The women’s match took place on 14th of December, the day when the gentlemen took the benches and women howled on the ground. The entire air was filled with fierce feminism. There were 2 teams of women that rivaled for the trophy.

In the end, the ‘Queen of boundaries’ claimed the victory. The entire air was soiled with shien and sportsmanship and the eZee boys could not hold themselves back and chipped in for the second fiery fun match.

But you see, all is well when the end’s well. The champions got their trophy and counters got their part in the game. Later, everyone indulged in eZee’s anniversary celebration with all the fun and glee.

Welcoming delights of monsoon with Annual Picnic and AGM – 2018

It is often said that “all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy”. But we ain’t Jack, we are eZee and we take fun seriously so, we always manage to have our sweet time to loosen up every once in a while to boost our mastery and efficiency. This can be considered as a secret of our work ethos. This time we went to Pluz Resort for our two-day picnic where we also had our Annual General Meeting.

The breeze of a pleasant eZeeness flew through the window panes of all those three buses in which the entire eZee clan had departed on 23rd June from Surat HQ with the playful reciprocation of the thoughts among one another. This breeze of zesty time-out broke the office paradigms and brought all the eZee employees into an everlasting friendly spirit which made this picnic a much celebrated time.

We had archived our Annual General Meeting along with the picnic this time, which added a new glint to the trip. It was overwhelming to have our prime partner, Mr. Imtiyaz Adamjee, the owner and founder of Hifin Technosys, Kenya. He accompanied us as the chief guest of the meeting.

He celebrated eZee’s prosperity along with us and was equally nostalgic about his journey with the company. His words somehow filled us with a great excitement and we dashed forward gleefully to the rest of the day.

Later to the AGM, we had an intriguing pool party along with rain dance where we had set our spirits waving to the played tracks but, the party had just started then and the clan danced their feet out in the DJ night later to that. This party was then extended to Shaam-e-Ghazal where the poets amongst us poured their hearts out. That day was indeed exhilarating!

On the next day, we started fresh with Yoga and later played exciting games, followed by a photo session. Then we happily ended our trip with the certificate distribution to Workaholics and team members with regular attendance and an amazing lunch gathering.

During all this time while we were busy having fun, the support team kept up the integrity of the promise of round the clock running support to the clients and the partners by working on their respective shifts.
Joy, togetherness, rejuvenation, and thrill – the trip had everything that was anticipated and the memory of the fun times during the picnic will always be celebrated.

Celebrations to Witness: Our 12th Anniversary and EPL

We’re delighted to announce our 12th anniversary this month – ‘A celebration of innovation and excellence’.

Set up in 2005 as a small firm looking to cater hotels and restaurants through on-premise solutions, we’ve come a long way now. This marks as a significant milestone for us, owing to more than 10000 happy clients in our kitty in more than 160 countries across the world. Not just that, but these 12 years have witnessed us setting up regional offices in Malaysia, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Indonesia; as well as establish a well-strung distributor network worldwide.

This occasion was celebrated along with the two-day event of eZee Premier League (EPL 2017-18) – a sporty escape from the routine life.

EPL and  12th Anniversary

The EPL was scheduled on 16th and 23rd of December. On the chilly winter mornings, the players were all set to fire up the ground with their athletic energy. Teams were decided, matches were scheduled, and the audience were all ready to cheer up the players.

The event started with the National Anthem followed by the men’s qualifying matches on 16th December. Winning teams Smashing Sunrisers, Dashing Daredevils, Roaring Lions and Gracious Kings on 16th performed their best and were selected for the semi-final and final matches on 23rd December.

On the account of eZee’s anniversary, the celebration commenced by cake cutting, snacks and photo sessions. The first match on 23rd was the women’s match between The Batgirls and The Superwomen followed by men’s semi-final and final matches. The Batgirls won the match, proving their mettle in the gentleman’s game.

1st semi-final was played between Dashing Daredevils and Smashing Sunrisers; whereas the 2nd one was played between Roaring Lions and Gracious Kings. The audience was captivated with the final match between The Smashing Sunrisers and The Roaring Lions, thus making The Smashing Sunrisers winners of EPL 2017-18.

The secret to our success: The spirit of working together.

The event turned out to be a success with team members getting rejuvenated with cricket, carrom and chess along with bonding with other departments. Over the years, there have been countless of celebrations, events, festivities; and each have been memorable.

Surpassing the old traditions: Our 12th Annual General Meeting

In a continuous effort to be innovative, our Annual General Meet this time defined a different approach altogether. Instead of the conventional way with growth numbers and stats floating around, it was a fun filled full-day event on 14th October. The event kicked off with a photo session, setting just the right stage.

The strength of the team lies in an individual, and the strength of the individual is in the team.

Insights from past learnings, educational presentation about team building, humorous techno-skits depicting a normal work day, dance performances, stand-up comedy, recognizing the workaholics were some of the major highlights of AGM. The team performances portrayed a different yet refreshing facet of the eZeeites.

In the second half, eZee’s CEO, CTO and founders gave their respective speeches covering a wide range of topics like company policies, innovations, opportunities, balanced life and fun. Co-Founder, Vipul Kapoor spoke on the tremendous opportunities for eZee in global hospitality market and shared his future aspirations for the company; motivating one and all to bring out their extraordinary calibers.

The CEO, Aeijaz Sodawala encouraged one and all to be honest with yourself and build a team spirit to tackle huge challenges, while focusing towards making work more enjoyable and having a balanced working environment. Whereas, the CTO, Harshdeep Khatri asked the team to focus on improving skills rather than working hard on the job.

While one amongst us also spoke on how to control your desires, giving an insightful revelation on known, yet hidden facts. The workaholics with highest working hours and those with regular quarterly attendance were awarded with certificates, as they set up a benchmark to inspire other team members.

The entire event was filled with captivated audiences admiring presentations, innovation fundas from top management and performances under humourous anchoring from the duo – Karan and Amandeep. The event concluded with an awesome solo dance performance on a Punjabi song, awe-inspiring memories and wishes for Diwali and New Year.

eZee gets a new CTO: Transformation on its way

Chief Technology officer. This designation itself expresses that the personage leading this position would be subjected to scientific and technological aspects and governance in an organization.

For a tech-pro company like eZee- living and breathing technology; position of CTO is a vital rank in itself. Hence, choice of a successor would affect company’s technology strategy and become a deciding factor in upcoming growth and development plans. However, with technology transforming everyday, technology officers are expected to develop and implement ingenious strategies. Consequently, aligning these plans with organizational goals is what a technology leader does best.

The Big Announcement

On the morning of 25th March, a general assembly was called at eZee. All eZeeites gathered with a dash of surprise and wonder on their faces. As zero hour approached, Aeijaz Sodawala, CEO of eZee started addressing the audience. And during discourse, in presence of all employees, Vipul Kapoor declared name of his successor, that is, Harshdeep. He announced that Harshdeep Khatri will be Chief technology Officer to lead tech innovations at company.

After 9 years of dynamic leadership on various technology frontiers in eZee, Harshdeep Khatri will now officially rise to mantle of CTO of eZee Technosys: the company constantly innovating with breakthrough technologies.

eZeeites rolled out red carpet for Harshdeep, new CTO. Fondly Known as HRK in entire eZee, people know him as a master of converting theoretical concepts in reality.

This decision has come on a very right time, when eZee is going for a next level growth and expansion plan. Appointment of new CTO will open up a whole new dimension of growth in terms of technology.

Today hundreds of users are using eZee’s cloud based hospitality solutions. We are growing exponentially in terms of customers, users, partners. In that case, major challenge is to control technology to sustain this massive growth. We are enrolling and serving a mighty number of clients with each passing month. Summarily, we need solid optimized products along with strong and skilled teams of engineers to be in the service of such high volume of live users. As a leader Harshdeep can bring in same vision in entire team and deliver ultimate user experience.

New CTO is totally equipped with all expertise to manage products on a larger scale. Dynamic in nature, Harshdeep always goes that extra mile. People know him as a leader with example. A unique trait in his personality makes him go to the depth of puzzles, execute from various perspectives, and then design a solution that fixes solution forever.

What lies behind co-founder’s discovery of successor

Vipul has certainly got some plausible arguments on why he put seal on HRK’s candidature. “He is very good at implementing different concepts of technology, concepts that are complex in nature.” he said. “Theoretically existing concepts too require research of applicability. And I am confident that Harshdeep contains that grit and can certainly take eZee solutions to the next level.”

Enlightening further with wisdom about CTO and accountability that the designation holds, Vipul shared, “One has to be a team player, one has to run large teams and numerous products. A CTO works with everyone, works on every technology. Therefore, an understanding to gel with everyone is a must. Talking to team, dealing with their daily affairs, requirements, questions, challenges, and career aspirations is a critical and essential skill a leader should possess.”

Throwback: A look into the flashback

To sum up Harshdeep’s journey in eZee, he went from a junior programmer in 2008 to Head of Cloud Technology by 2015 and now Chief technology Officer in 2017.

He is known for massively bringing down scheduled downtime from 2 hours to 2 minutes during the release of new versions of eZee cloud solutions, and he heads towards 0 downtime now.

As an interface programmer, Harshdeep worked with desktop based technology in initial days. Foreseeing potential of cloud platform, eZee went ahead to build a cloud based service segment. Harshdeep took over research and exploration part to evaluate viability of cloud platform in eZee solutions.

He researched on what technology to implement, which infrastructure to use, thenafter leading the team, he kick started production of cloud based hotel PMS eZee Absolute. Going forward, he commenced development of other cloud based products like eZee Reservation booking Engine and eZee Centrix Channel Manager. He closely supervised minutes of software framework, architecture, development, deployment, support, troubleshooting and everything concerning those solutions. As a result, we could build robust solutions and are able to support hundreds of live users using them.

The way forward

In a product based company like eZee, position of CTO can prove to be challenging. Not only the technology but hardware, infrastructure, devices, databases, live users, support, teammates and every peripheral that one can imagine emerges as a challenge.

How innovation comes into play? You come across a tech advancement such as Machine Learning, and you think about how can you use it to make your own products better. What new feature or adoption of which new mechanism can make it easier for your users? Well, that’s how a Technology Officer can lead and build a technical masterpiece that facilitates every user.

“Operating in domain specific company operating in hospitality industry, leaders cannot do without sound knowledge of industry. Ultimately, why we develop hospitality solutions? To solve hoteliers’ daily management troubles and help them run their business more effectively. Until and unless you understand their needs, what their guests demand from them, you won’t be able to build a right software. That’s another skill set you require.” says Vipul Kapoor.

One must be strong and ready to build and sustain massive IT infrastructure, millions of live users, and ability to support them, in order to go to the next level.

A technology officer observes and analyses changing industry trends and advancing technology spectrum. In order to maintain numerous product mix altogether and handling such large teams, a CTO must be equipped with dynamics to adopt new technology and fundamentals. To drive growth, one needs to acquire skills; have unique approaches; listen to customers, partners, team players, collect feedback and work accordingly.

I sit here today, with a new designation “CEO, eZee Technosys”, overwhelmed by the terrific news, all I can think about my journey till here which I can sum up in just 3 lines by Robert Frost-

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

I took the path not taken and today as I am embarking on this new journey I want to give you a little more insight about me and share my ideas for the future of our company.

Unlike many of my fellow mates, after graduation I didn’t take the next flight to other countries and get a monotonous 9-5 job that I would have hated; instead, I pursued my passion of business development.

I remember that night back in 2007, I was sitting on my desk with a friend and discussing regarding our future, and right then I started my research and came across eZee Technosys, that precise moment was the moment of impact in my life. The more I researched about this global hospitality solutions provider, the more certain I became about my decision. It seems like just yesterday when I came to the cabin of D-113 for the interview with Hitesh and Vipul, where Hitesh was talking to me while Vipul was busy on the laptop interacting with a client. That is what strikes me even now, Vipul is still working with the same energy that he had 7 years ago which is not Vipul’s energy but it is the energy of eZee and it is contagious. I too caught it very soon and every day I see that energy shared by each member of eZee.

It is an incredible honor for me to lead this dynamic team of very talented individuals like yourself and serve this incredible organization.

Over the time, you will notice many changes in the company, however, I assure you that our core values would remain the same. We have always provided the most innovative solutions to our clients and we will continue delivering  the best. I have said it before and I will say it again we can only progress if our clients are truly satisfied with our service. In the upcoming future, our core focus would be working on bringing customer delight and offering them the best user experience possible.

To achieve this goal, I need each of you to contribute passionately, put your best efforts on the table and have fun with your work. Do remember without the passion there will be nothing that can drive you and without you, there will be nothing for me to drive. I know I can count on you and together we will definitely take eZee to incredible heights. Once again quoting Robert Frost-

Team eZee welcomes new CEO with a small gift

On 7th November 2015, during eZee’s 10th Annual General Meeting the Co-founder of eZee Mr. Hitesh Patel announced the shuffle in Executive management with the appointment of Aeijaz Sodawala as the new CEO.

After 7 years in progressive leadership roles under the top management, most recently as COO, Mr. Aeijaz Sodawala will officially step up to the role of CEO from January 2016.

Aeijaz joined eZee in 2008 and since then he has an upright track record of working closely with every department in the company, playing a significant role in evolving the company’s framework. Including the former CEO- Hitesh Patel, the entire board unanimously selected Aeijaz to succeed Hitesh as the new CEO, while Hitesh will move to his role of Managing Director.
